Why it matters
The premise behind CAMIO is simple: capture what is in front of you without a camera getting in the way. BQEYZ® positions it as an answer to the familiar complaints about wearable cameras, namely weight, fiddly controls and mediocre image quality. A supplied clip lets it attach to eyeglasses or clothing, leaving both hands free while it records from the wearer's point of view.
Small and light by design
According to the maker, the body weighs 19 grams, roughly a third of a typical egg. It is built from high-strength resin in a slim form factor that the company says can withstand drops and vibration. The surface is treated for dust and splash resistance, though the maker notes it is not fully waterproof and should not be used underwater. Its discreet design is pitched as allowing it to go largely unnoticed when worn.
Imaging and audio
The maker says CAMIO records video at up to 2.7K (2688×1520 pixels) at 30fps through a 110-degree wide-angle lens, with automatic exposure adjustment and ISO control intended to help in challenging light. Stills are rated at 12 megapixels. A dedicated audio recording mode uses what the company describes as a high-precision microphone designed to suppress ambient noise, aimed at lectures and interviews.
- Three modes: video, photo and audio recording
- 2.0-inch IPS color display for on-device preview
- Loop recording that overwrites the oldest footage when storage fills
- microSD support up to 128GB
- Up to 1 hour of recording per charge, charged via USB-C
- Wi-Fi link to the RoadCam smartphone app
Controls and the RoadCam app
Physical buttons handle power, mode switching and starting or stopping recording. Over Wi-Fi, the RoadCam app is said to offer remote control, live viewing, previews and downloads, along with adjustments for white balance, exposure compensation and frame rate. Footage can be saved to a phone or cloud storage through the app, according to the maker.
BQEYZ® suggests a wide range of uses: POV video for vloggers and outdoor creators, helmet-mounted footage for motorcyclists, solo reporting for journalists, hands-free documentation on construction sites, classroom experiments, and everyday family, travel and pet recording. With loop recording, the company also proposes it as a stand-in for a store security camera.
