Lymow One

A tracked robotic mower that maps its own boundaries with RTK-VSLAM instead of perimeter wire

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Most robotic mowers still depend on a buried perimeter wire and wheels that struggle on slopes. Lymow One takes a different approach on both counts: the maker describes a tracked chassis for uneven ground and a positioning system that lets owners draw work zones without laying any physical boundary.

Tracks and positioning

Instead of wheels, Lymow One uses crawler tracks. The maker says this lets it move smoothly over sloped gardens and rough terrain that conventional wheeled mowers find difficult. For navigation it combines RTK (real-time kinematic) positioning with visual SLAM, a pairing the maker calls RTK-VSLAM, so the mower can operate within areas the user defines rather than inside a wire loop.

Cutting and coverage

According to the maker, the mower can cover up to 1.75 acres (roughly 7,000 square metres) in a day. It uses dual blades spinning at 6000RPM, with a mulching function that finely chops clippings and returns them to the lawn, which the maker says contributes to healthier soil.

  • Up to 1.75 acres of coverage per day, per the maker
  • All-terrain tracks for slopes and uneven ground
  • Dual mulching blades at 6000RPM
  • Wire-free zone setup via RTK-VSLAM
  • Obstacle detection and avoidance
  • Smartphone app for real-time status and area settings

Safety and control

The maker states that Lymow One detects and steers around obstacles, positioning this as a way to avoid colliding with pets or garden ornaments. A companion smartphone app is used to monitor the mower's status in real time and to set its work areas.
