Why it matters
The DL-210 is aimed at people who lose time outsourcing or hunting down a single shaft, bushing or threaded adapter. Apanmeker describes it as a two-axis slant-bed desktop CNC lathe for round parts, handling turning, facing, grooving, parting and thread cutting across a working envelope of Ø80×200mm. The pitch is not simply a smaller lathe but a complete CNC workflow scaled to a workshop or prototyping corner.
Compact, but not light
The enclosure measures 830×600×650mm, yet the maker notes the standard machine weighs about 103kg, so it needs a stable bench with adequate load capacity. The structure is built around a one-piece 6061-T6 aluminum slant bed, C3-grade precision ball screws and linear guides, with servo-driven X/Z axes rated at 0.01mm repeatability. The source is careful to point out that this figure describes how consistently the axes return to position, not the absolute accuracy of a finished part, which also depends on tool setup, workholding, temperature and tool wear.
Servo drive and automatic tool changes
The spindle is an 800W servo unit reaching 4,000rpm with encoder feedback, and each of the X and Z axes uses a 100W servo motor. A 4-station automatic tool turret switches tools as the program calls for them, with stored offsets for each tool, so roughing, facing, grooving and threading can run in sequence without manual tool swaps. Synchronizing the spindle encoder with Z-axis feed is what the maker credits for consistent-pitch threads over multiple passes, including in steel and stainless steel.
- Standard G-code/M-code, manual input, MDI, USB transfer, tool compensation, macros and single-block execution
- 256MB storage holding up to 200 programs
- Electronic MPG handwheel for fine X/Z jogging
- Automatic coolant mist system (requires an external air compressor and suitable cutting fluid)
- Lathe CAM workflows in Autodesk Fusion 360, Siemens NX, Mastercam and SolidCAM via a DL-210 post-processor
Materials and realistic limits
Listed materials include aluminum, brass, copper, steel, stainless steel, titanium, acrylic, POM, ABS, nylon, hardwood and wax. The maker says the standard 800W spindle can machine metals including 304 stainless with appropriate tooling and parameters, while acknowledging the DL-210 is not built for sustained heavy cutting like a full-size lathe. Suggested uses range from shafts, bushings and threaded fittings to plastic spacers and rollers, and wooden knobs or model parts.
Because the controller runs standalone, simple parts can be programmed and edited at the machine, while more complex jobs can be generated in existing CAD/CAM software and loaded over USB.
