Judging doneness is still mostly guesswork for many home cooks. ChefLab aims to remove that guesswork: according to the maker, its AI automatically sets the optimal temperature based on the type of food and the doneness you enter, rather than simply reporting a number and leaving the rest to you.

Behind the product is Sunstone Technology Co., Ltd., which the campaign describes as having more than 15 years of experience in consumer electronics, a track record in Bluetooth and smart home products, and past partnerships with brands including Walmart, MINISO and JVC.

Recipes and guidance in the app

The ChefLab app surfaces video tutorials that its AI selects from YouTube and streaming services, covering dishes from Korean barbecue to Mediterranean fish. The maker also says you can enter the ingredients you have on hand and receive a matching recipe along with temperature settings.

Hardware, according to the maker

• Compact probe with two internal meat sensors and one ambient sensor for real-time temperature tracking, designed to detect the coldest part of thick steaks or whole chickens
• Dual control: guided cooking and smart alerts in the app, or screen-free monitoring and alarms on the display dock
• Display dock doubles as a kitchen monitor, showing real-time room temperature and humidity when not grilling
• Magnetic mount for attaching the dock to metal surfaces
• Waterproof, heat-resistant probe suited to grilling, roasting and sous vide, and easy to clean
• Bluetooth 5.0 with a range of up to 700 feet (about 213 meters) in open space

The campaign acknowledges the usual hardware risks, including manufacturing and supply chain delays and final product calibration. Sunstone says it is working with experienced suppliers and has built buffer time into its timeline to reduce them.
