Duroxen
A desktop CNC lathe that pairs manual and G-code operation with a 750W brushless spindle and 0.01mm claims
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Conventional CNC lathes tend to be large, complex and hard to justify for a home workshop. Duroxen's pitch is a machine sized for a desktop that still handles steel, aluminum, brass, hardwoods, softwoods and various plastics. According to the maker, its rigid frame, optimized spindle system and finely adjustable motion control combine to hold an error range of 0.01mm.
Spindle and operating modes
The spindle is driven by a 750W brushless motor and, the maker says, can be adjusted manually from 100RPM to 4200RPM in 100RPM steps, with forward and reverse rotation. A 5000P/R encoder tracks spindle position for automated work. Duroxen offers two modes: a manual mode for drilling, cutting and polishing by hand, and a CNC mode that runs G-code generated in CAD/CAM software. The idea is that newcomers can start manually and move to automated machining later.
Workholding and tailstock
A K11-100 3-jaw chuck is fitted by default, with a clamping range of about 2–100mm. A K12-80 4-jaw chuck, described as self-centering with a range of about 2–80mm depending on jaw arrangement, can be swapped in; the campaign states the Deluxe package includes both. The tailstock accepts MT1 taper shanks and a B12 drill chuck, so it can support long workpieces with a center or carry a drill bit for boring without re-mounting the part. A through-spindle design admits long stock up to 30mm in diameter.
Safety and software
- Tinted acrylic enclosure to contain chips and dust and limit contact with moving parts
- Front-mounted emergency stop with a built-in rapid braking system, per the maker
- Stated compatibility with Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion 360, Siemens NX (UG), SolidWorks (CAM), FreeCAD, Aspire and VCarve, plus other software that outputs G-code or NC files
Taken together, Duroxen is positioned for small-batch parts, personal prototyping and craft work such as pen blanks or wooden handles. Its performance figures come from the campaign and have not been independently verified by Modern-G.
