ITEHIL E02

Conventional filter straws rely on the user's lungs to pull water through the filter, which can be tiring after a long hike or at altitude. The ITEHIL E02 takes a different approach: according to the maker, a built-in motor starts with a single button press and delivers filtered water directly, at a rate of 700 ml per minute. If the battery runs flat, the maker says the straw can still be used in a manual mode, sucked like a traditional filter straw.

Filtration

The maker describes an advanced multi-layer composite filter that removes suspended particles such as silt, bacteria, chlorine and heavy metals, and says it also improves taste. The filter is said to have passed testing by NSF and SGS. Each cartridge is rated by the maker for up to 300 liters, which it equates to roughly 1,500 cups, and the cartridge is designed to be removed and replaced easily.

Power and build

An 800mAh rechargeable battery provides, according to the maker, 1 hour of continuous powered operation, enough to filter up to 42 liters electrically on a full charge. Charging is via USB-C, so power banks, solar chargers and car adapters are all options.
