JOINOUT

A coffee scale whose gravity-sensing timer starts and stops itself as you pour, with a detachable cup

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Most pour-over routines involve a small juggling act: start the kettle pour, hit the timer, glance between screen and stream. JOINOUT is designed to remove that step. According to the maker, its scale was conceived around how a barista thinks while brewing, with the technology meant to stay out of the way.

A timer that watches the weight

The central feature is what the maker calls a proprietary gravity-sensing auto timer. It tracks real-time weight changes during brewing: the timer starts when the first drops of water land, and stops automatically once the flow stabilizes, according to the campaign. The stated aim is to keep attention on pour angle and speed rather than on buttons, and to avoid losing the first seconds of extraction.

Scale and cup in one

JOINOUT uses a detachable 2-in-1 design. On its own it works as a standalone scale, for example to weigh 18g of beans for espresso or to check output under an existing dripper. With the cup attached, the 100ml measuring cup carries internal scale markings so ratios can be managed while brewing. The maker notes the cup removes for cleaning and that the setup stores compactly. The cup comes in two versions: stainless steel, positioned for durability and easy care, and pure titanium, described as very light, corrosion-resistant and free of metallic taste. Both are said to be food-safe.
