Why it matters
Robot arms have traditionally demanded programming, wiring, control software and careful tuning before they do anything useful. Kynooe is built around removing that barrier. According to the maker, its dedicated iOS/Android app lets users create and adjust motions much as they would use any phone app, and natural-language voice commands allow control when both hands are busy.
Hardware at a glance
- Reach: 420mm
- Maximum speed: 500mm/s
- Weight: 1.5kg
- Materials: aluminum alloy and engineering plastic
- Battery: USB-C charging, roughly 2 hours of operation
- Maximum payload: approx. 500g (prototype figure)
- Repeatability: ±1mm (prototype figure)
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, with offline use supported
One arm, many roles
The modular design is central to the concept. The maker says the wrist's roll and pitch joints can be swapped, and the arm accepts modules including a camera, gripper, light, massager and smartphone holder. A phone holder turns it into a filming aid, the gripper handles moving light objects, and the light becomes task lighting. Custom 3D-printed modules are also supported.
For solo creators, the campaign highlights AI face tracking: paired with a camera or smartphone, the arm follows the subject's face and adjusts framing, aimed at cooking, crafting, review videos, online lessons and desk tours where both hands and face need to stay in shot.
Room to grow for developers
Beyond the app, Kynooe supports a Python SDK and ROS2, the widely used robotics software framework, opening the door to research, education, prototyping and integration with AI models. The maker also plans to open-source the hardware interface and joint controller, giving makers a foundation for their own modules and control schemes.
The maker is clear that this is not an industrial machine for heavy loads; its stated focus is assisting with everyday desk-scale tasks where consistent, repeatable motion matters.
