LunchOn
A lunchbox that both heats to 80℃ and chills to -2℃, powered by a detachable 25,000mAh battery
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Most insulated lunchboxes only slow down the inevitable. LunchOn takes a different approach: according to the maker, a single base can heat food to a maximum of 80℃ or cool it to a minimum of -2℃, using Peltier-based temperature control. The design pairs an internal heating element with a thermoelectric module for active cooling, operated either from a built-in display or a companion app.
Hot or cold, on one base
The maker says a hot meal can be ready in roughly 8 to 25 minutes, positioning LunchOn for rice, curry, soup and cheese-based dishes away from a microwave. On the cooling side, the -2℃ floor is pitched at salads, yogurt, fruit and desserts in warm weather, removing the need for ice packs. Suggested use cases include office lunches, camping, and carrying prepared meals for training.
A detachable 25,000mAh battery
Power comes from a removable 25,000mAh battery that also doubles as a power bank for phones and other devices. The maker says LunchOn can run with the battery attached or with the main unit connected to a compatible charger, and the battery can be charged on its own via 100W USB-C PD input. It is rated at about 92.5Wh, which the maker notes falls under the 100Wh guideline commonly applied to carry-on lithium batteries; airline rules vary, so travelers should check their carrier's current policy.
Modular containers and companion app
- Three removable containers: about 1,200ml, 800ml and 400ml, each designed to work with the temperature-control base
- Ceramic food containers that detach for hand washing or the dishwasher
- Built-in knife, fork and spoon
- Smart display for on-device heating and cooling control
- iOS and Android app over Bluetooth with heating, cooling and temperature-holding modes, battery status and scheduled heating or cooling
- AI meal recognition that identifies food from a photo to help track calories and nutritional balance
- Five color options
Separating the electronics-laden base from the food-contact containers is meant to keep daily cleanup simple. The maker frames the AI nutrition figures as a guide rather than precise measurement, and the overall pitch is less about a single feature than about consolidating a lunchbox, a cooler and a power bank into one carry.
