Why it matters
Freehand sharpening asks a lot: holding a consistent angle on a whetstone takes practice, cheap pull-through sharpeners deliver short-lived edges, and different blades often demand different tools. The Ruixin Pro Omnix is pitched as a single guided system meant to address those problems, with the maker positioning it for beginners who want consistent results as well as owners of varied blade collections.
Angle control without electronics
According to the maker, the body integrates a battery-free angle scale, so the current sharpening angle can be read in real time without a separate digital gauge, batteries or calibration. A dual-screw locking mechanism is said to hold the blade firmly against slipping, a bubble level is built into the stone handle, and adjustable leveling knobs on the base, paired with a built-in bubble level, are intended to keep the setup level on uneven work surfaces. The clamp rotates, so after finishing one side the user flips it to sharpen the other at the same angle, which the maker says keeps both bevels matched.
Modular by design
The maker describes the Omnix as using an independent modular structure, which it calls an industry first, with one system switching between 4 usage modes. Modules click together with a tool-free lock, and the maker says reconfiguring takes tens of seconds and initial assembly just 3 steps. A minimal setup could serve as a kitchen knife station, with a larger clamp module or a woodworking attachment added for outdoor tools or chisels. The maker also says the G-clamp, blade platform and woodworking attachment are compatible with other clamp-type sharpening systems. When not in use, the modules pack into a dedicated storage case.
Clamping and abrasives
- V-shaped clamp with a 0° to 45° adjustment range, holding blades up to 300mm long and 7mm thick, per the maker
- Built-in magnetic small-knife table for EDC folders and slim slipjoint blades, holding them without clamping
- Dedicated module for carving chisels and tools with irregular backs
- Four-sided handle with embedded 200, 600 and 1000 grit diamond stones plus a ceramic stone
- 2-in-1 universal handle accepting 1×6 inch and 1×4 inch standard stones and files
- Magnetic slot on the body for storing the hex wrench
The frame is built mainly from stainless steel and aluminum alloy, which the maker says resists the flex that can affect plastic bodies and is designed to hold dimensional accuracy for decades in humid or dusty conditions. Textured surfaces are meant to aid grip during wet sharpening, and the maker cites safety details including non-slip clamp contact surfaces and a curved handle grip.
