Why it matters

Anyone who works alongside Claude knows the routine of flipping between windows to check whether it is still working, waiting for approval or already finished. Starbond Vox aims to move that status out of the browser tab and onto a small device beside your keyboard, where an animated pet reflects what the AI is up to.

Claude's status, animated

According to the maker, the pet reacts to Claude in real time: looking a little impatient while a tool approval is pending, bustling around when several tasks run in parallel, celebrating with confetti when a task completes, and resting quietly when nothing is happening. Physical A/B buttons handle approval requests without leaving your desk, with A to approve and B to deny. Quick approvals earn a heart animation; repeated denials produce a sulky face.

A pet that grows with your token use

The maker frames the device partly as a raising game. A Mood Hearts system shifts the pet's mood based on how you respond to approvals, brightening with prompt responses and frequent interaction and drooping when ignored or repeatedly refused. Token Feeding treats the tokens consumed in Claude chats and tasks as food: the pet levels up every 50,000 tokens, up to level 255, with a special animation and confetti at each level.

  • Energy Bar that drains over long sessions, with a Nap Mode where the pet gets drowsy and the screen dims while it recovers
  • Desk Clock Mode when charging over USB and Claude is idle, with the pet's expression changing by time of day and on holidays or special days
  • Three main views switched with the A button: NORMAL (pet, Claude status, conversation summary), PET (mood, growth, energy, level) and INFO (controls, pairing, settings)
  • Swappable characters from ASCII-art designs to colorful GIFs, plus custom GIFs sent from the desktop side
  • USB or Bluetooth (BLE) connection to Claude Desktop, with automatic reconnection once paired
  • OTA updates that, the maker says, add animations and features without erasing the pet's growth data

The campaign also cites MCP support and suggests this could allow integration with AI agents beyond Claude in future, though it presents that as a possibility rather than a confirmed feature.
