TabKao
A CNC-machined aluminum desk console pairing a touchscreen, macro keys and a trackball with 80s styling
Editor’s view
Why it matters
TabKao pitches itself as a desk command center rather than another plastic accessory. According to the maker, the body is machined in one piece from 6063 aircraft-grade aluminum by CNC, with a matte finish meant to resist fingerprints and bold geometric lines that recall 80s micro-terminals. Inside that retro shell sit a 3.97-inch touchscreen, 14 customizable mechanical keys, a detachable trackball module and a high-speed USB hub, all running over a single USB-C cable.
Macros and a second screen
The maker says its software lets users build multi-step commands it calls "chain reactions." Its example is a "creative mode" key that launches tools such as Photoshop or Illustrator, opens a chosen project folder and adjusts workspace lighting in one press. The keys use mechanical-feel switches with a defined actuation point, which the campaign says supports operating them without looking down.
The touchscreen is described as a true secondary display for Windows and macOS. Suggested uses include real-time CPU, GPU and memory readouts, offloading Spotify lyrics or Discord chat, showing a game minimap or checking a video-editing timeline. Multi-touch gestures such as swiping between layouts and tapping to toggle settings are also listed.
