AllPro Ruler G2

A telescoping Grade 5 titanium EDC ruler that folds caliper, compass and protractor into 46.1g

Editor’s view

Why it matters

The original AllPro Ruler merged a ruler, caliper, compass and protractor into one compact titanium body. According to the maker, the G2 keeps that idea but has been reworked across the board to be easier to use, more precise and suited to more situations, from drafting blueprints in a studio to measuring furniture parts on site, school geometry and weekend DIY.

Telescoping body with a lock

The headline change is a telescoping design. Collapsed, the G2 measures 14cm (5.55 inches); sliding out an internal rail system extends its measuring range. The maker says the extension is smooth, free of play and controllable with one finger, and that a precision locking mechanism holds the body in place so it does not shift during long or repeated measurements. The maker does not state the fully extended length.

Six functions in one tool

  • Zero-point measuring: the scale's zero sits exactly at the body's edge, which the maker says eliminates offset error
  • Depth measuring: the extending section reaches into grooves and recesses, read against the body's surface
  • Compass: a push-pin mechanism anchors one end so the ruler can rotate to draw circles and arcs, with radius set using the scale
  • Vernier caliper: a sliding jaw and vernier scale read external dimensions to 0.1mm
  • Protractor: a 180-degree arc graduated in 15-degree steps at one end
  • Ruler: metric and imperial scales, both laser-etched

Ergonomics and materials

Every edge is chamfered and polished, which the maker says keeps it comfortable in the hand and gentle on phones and pens sharing a pocket. The ruler face is angled at 25 degrees; the maker claims this reduces shadows over the markings, helps fingers grip the sides, and gives a stable guide for a knife or cutter. The laser-etched scales are described as sharp and scratch-resistant.

The body is machined from Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V), an alloy used in aerospace and medical equipment. The maker cites its strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance against water and sweat, and low skin irritation. The G2 weighs 46.1g (1.63oz), has a key ring hole at one end, and an optional leather sheath is offered.
