CodeeBot

Screen-free, LEGO-compatible coding blocks with a built-in GPT-powered voice tutor that hints rather than tells.

Why it matters

Most coding toys for children still route everything through a tablet. CodeeBot takes the opposite approach: programs are built physically, by snapping together magnetic coding blocks alongside motors, sensors and LEGO-compatible construction bricks. The result, according to the maker, can be a working robot or an interactive device, with no screen involved at any stage.

Code you can see flowing

The magnetic coding blocks have built-in lights that visualise the flow of a program. The maker says light travels smoothly through the chain when the code works, while a red light flags a problem, so children can locate mistakes themselves. Compared with on-screen tools such as Scratch, the maker claims children are 8 times more likely to solve problems on their own, and that computational thinking improves by 27.55%. The source does not explain how these figures were measured.

A tutor that asks back

When a robot refuses to move or a child can't work out which block comes next, a single button summons an AI coding tutor built on GPT technology. According to the maker, it explains things in gentle language and deliberately avoids handing over answers, offering hints and prompts instead so the child reaches the solution independently. The pitch to parents is a child who can keep building without calling for help at every snag.

Four kits, ages 4 to 16

  • Four kits covering ages 4 to 16; each higher kit includes everything in the kits below it
  • Beginner builds: simple robots that move forward and turn based on block placement
  • Intermediate builds: sensor-driven devices, such as ones that react when a person approaches
  • Advanced kits: complex systems built from scratch, such as smart-home setups
  • Usable as a modular DIY prototyping tool for adults as well, with no fine wiring required

On the hardware side, the maker describes rounded corners throughout, joints designed to be easy for small hands to assemble yet resistant to coming apart, and magnets tuned so young children can attach and detach blocks smoothly without pinching fingers. Parts can be disassembled and reused for new builds, and the maker says a single kit supports several projects in parallel.
