Why it matters

Everyday carry tools face a simple problem: if they are heavy or bulky, they get left at home. Coinax tackles that by shrinking the format to roughly the footprint of a coin. The maker lists its size as 25mm×8mm and its weight as 14.7g, small enough, it says, to fit the little fifth pocket of a pair of jeans. The source also describes the form as reportedly smaller than an AirTag.

Three functions, deliberately modest

  • Cutter for parcel tape, envelopes and packaging
  • Bottle opener
  • Flathead screwdriver for small jobs such as eyeglasses, battery covers and minor adjustments

The pitch is not to replace a full-size multitool. The maker positions Coinax for quick, frequent tasks rather than heavy work, and the flathead driver is framed as an on-the-go helper, not a substitute for proper tools.

Materials and mechanism

The premium version combines a titanium body with Damascus steel inserts, whose layered pattern gives each piece its own look. The inserts slide out from the left and right sides, with small nail grooves for pulling out only the function needed. According to the maker, the blade edge is treated to reduce the risk of cutting skin during normal handling.

Ways to carry it

A magnet on the back lets Coinax stick to a fridge, toolbox or metal desk accessory, and a lanyard hole allows attachment to a keyring, carabiner or bag zipper pull. It can also simply go loose in a pocket.
