Doni
A smart ring that aims to read hormones, emotions and cardiovascular risk from your finger
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Most wearables stop at steps, sleep and heart rate. Doni, a smart ring presented as a Kickstarter project, is pitched as something broader: the maker describes it as the world's first ring to integrate hormones, emotions and health in one device. That is the maker's own framing, and it has not been independently verified.
Heart monitoring beyond heart rate
According to the maker, Doni pairs PPG (photoplethysmography) with hemodynamic modeling in what it calls a medical-grade blood pressure modeling system. The ring is said to monitor six cardiac risk indicators in real time: atrial fibrillation, arrhythmia, blood viscosity, arterial stiffness, myocardial ischemia and heart failure. The maker states the technology builds on wrist-worn blood pressure monitoring that has received medical device certification in China, and claims accuracy comparable to hospital measurement. It does not say that Doni itself holds any medical certification.
Emotions, energy and sharing
The campaign says Doni uses PPG signals and AI to automatically detect seven emotions and quantify hormone levels. A body energy score, derived from HRV, breathing and autonomic nervous system signals, condenses the data into a single number; per the maker, a score below 30 suggests rest is needed. Users can share health and emotional status with family or partners in real time, and the maker also describes fusing pulse wave, temperature, emotion models and cycle data to quantify intimacy patterns.
Sleep tracking covers deep, light and REM cycles, alongside analysis of what triggers stress. Continuous SpO₂ monitoring is included, which the maker suggests could flag overnight drops in blood oxygen worth raising with a doctor.
Hardware, according to the maker
- Thickness: 2mm
- Weight: 3.6g
- Water resistance: 10ATM, rated by the maker for swimming, showering and diving
- Battery: up to 15 days per full charge
- Finishes: Obsidian Black and Bloom
- No subscription required, per the maker
The maker describes the team as award-winning semiconductor engineers and researchers who have published biosensing work in leading journals. The project is promoted by Jellop, an ad-tech firm the campaign says has supported more than 3,500 successful Kickstarter projects.
