Why it matters

EAGET describes Minis as the "world's first AI-powered mini server," a claim attributed to the maker. The idea is to fold the speed of direct-attached storage, the reliability of network-attached storage and an AI layer into a single box running DASSET AI OS, so that photos, files and collaboration stay under the owner's control instead of on someone else's servers.

Storage and protection

The unit has up to four drive bays and accepts both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives in any mix. With 24TB drives, the maker says a single Minis can reach up to 96TB. RAID 0/1/5/10 are supported, and EAGET says the array rebuilds automatically when a replacement drive is inserted after a failure. Snapshot-based bulk restore is said to roll files back to an earlier version within seconds, with all backup and recovery handled locally.

Organization, sharing and access

According to EAGET, files dropped onto the server are sorted automatically by type, creation date and content, for example into date-based trip folders or project categories. Each user gets a separate login and personal space, while administrators can create groups with defined permissions so that teams or family members share some folders and stay walled off from others.

Minis mounts on Windows, macOS and Linux over Samba, WebDAV and NFS, appearing in File Explorer or Finder like a local drive. Management runs in a web browser on the local network, so computers, tablets and even smart TVs can reach it without a dedicated app, and the interface is offered in 13 languages. A one-switch global access mode opens the server to the internet; turning it off limits access to devices on the same router. For remote use, the maker's DASSET app is said to connect over an end-to-end encrypted channel directly between user and device, without routing through a third-party cloud.

AI features and the three models

Smart Albums use on-device AI to recognize people, places and scenes in photos and videos and group them into albums, with processing that EAGET says stays on the unit. A built-in AI agent responds to voice or text requests such as finding a recently edited contract or moving photos into a new folder. These features are split across three models, all sharing DASSET AI OS, RAID protection and the same interface:

  • Minis Air: local storage only, with no remote internet access, Smart Albums or AI agent.
  • Minis Pro: adds remote access and AI-driven Smart Albums, but no AI agent.
  • Minis Max: the full set, including remote access, Smart Albums and the built-in AI agent.
