GripNGo 2.0
A Grade 5 titanium EDC ratchet driver with a folding torque arm and storage for eight 1/4-inch bits
Editor’s view
Why it matters
The first GripNGo was a compact everyday-carry screwdriver. For version 2.0, TiMate says it drew on user feedback to make the tool easier to use, tougher and smarter, aiming it at bike maintenance, electronics repair, camping gear adjustments and furniture assembly.
Titanium body, revised mechanics
The body is machined from what the maker calls aircraft-grade Grade 5 titanium, which it describes as comparable in strength to common steel at roughly half the weight, with good corrosion resistance. TiMate positions this as the basis for long-term durability.
The headline mechanical change is a folding torque arm. According to the maker, the arm's shape and contact geometry were reworked so the thumb and index finger seat securely, reducing slip under high torque, such as when loosening stubborn fasteners. The ratchet has also been retuned for smoother, more reliable engagement, with each click given deliberate weight and sound so position can be judged by feel and ear, even in low light.
Bits and storage
Storage doubles from four bits in the original to eight standard 1/4-inch bits, each held in a magnetic slot and swappable one-handed, the maker says. A magnetic-release bit cap twists open and shut, is designed to work with gloves, and doubles as a fidget tool. The bit-holding outer ring has a textured surface intended to improve grip with sweaty hands and over longer sessions.
- Overall length: 4.04 in (approx. 10.26 cm), with a slightly enlarged leverage section for more turning force
- Included bit converter for switching between 1/4-inch and 1/6-inch bits
- Flick switch for forward, reverse and locked modes
- Strong magnets in both the driver tip and the bit adapter
- Compatible with most commercially available hex-drive bits, from precision electronics bits to larger security bits, per the maker
Taken together, TiMate pitches GripNGo 2.0 as a pocketable driver that balances strength, usability and portability for the small repairs of everyday life.
