GUOER K2

Insulated lunch bags only slow heat transfer, and compact electric coolers tend to be too heavy to carry around town every day. GUOER K2 aims at the space between the two: a carry-everywhere bag that, according to the maker, actively manages temperature rather than simply resisting it.

Peltier cooling and warming

At its core is a Peltier thermoelectric module, a semiconductor device that moves heat in one direction or the other depending on the flow of current, with no compressor or refrigerant. In cooling mode, the maker says air is drawn in through a vent on the base and excess heat is expelled through side vents. The company cites test results showing contents such as ice, fruit, sushi, chocolate and chilled desserts staying cold for 10 hours at an ambient temperature of 24℃. Switching to warming mode uses the same system to keep items like packed lunches, coffee, soup and stews at an eating temperature.

Two compartments, one bag

The bag is split into a lower 6L temperature-controlled zone and an upper 2L dry compartment. The lower section is lined with insulation for lunch containers, cans and snacks, and the maker says it is physically separated from the upper section so spills don't reach a phone, wallet or cards. The upper compartment uses a moisture-blocking material for everyday items such as keys, tissues and lip balm.

Power and carrying

• Car power cable for a cigarette-lighter socket, included
• USB cable for use with a power bank, included
• Optional 12V3A AC adapter, sold separately, for indoor use
• Shoulder strap and carry handle
• Two colours: Amber Orange and Onyx Black

The maker positions the design as slim enough for commuting and shopping while still suited to picnics, road trips, hiking and camping.
