Why it matters

Most bug zappers sit in a corner and wait. HUSHRAY M1 takes the opposite approach. According to the maker, the idea is to find a mosquito, move in on it and deal with it on the spot, whether it has landed on a bedroom wall, a window, a piece of furniture or the fabric of a tent.

Light, suction, contact

The process happens in three stages. A built-in light illuminates the target so it can be tracked in a dark room. As the device closes in, a gentle short-range suction effect helps guide small mosquitoes and other flying insects toward an internal grid. The maker stresses that this is an assist rather than a strong blast of air, intended to let you approach quietly. The final step is a mesh electrode the maker calls a high-voltage grid, which dispatches the insect on contact.

The maker says a dedicated high-voltage control module routes power to the grid's operating area, and the internal battery has overcharge and over-discharge protection. A protective cap covers the grid when the device is not in use. The maker also notes that the grid must never be touched while active, that the device should not be pointed at people or pets, and that it should be kept out of children's reach.

Night light and everyday practicality

With the cap fitted, HUSHRAY M1 works as a night light that gives off a soft glow, intended for bedside use, tents or hotel rooms. For cleaning, the maker recommends switching it off and brushing debris from the grid with a dry cleaning brush. The cap can be removed and washed with water or wiped with a wet tissue, then dried thoroughly. The body and grid are not waterproof and should not be rinsed or submerged.
