Lumink

Compact fountain pens usually ask for a compromise: smaller bodies that are awkward to hold, or designs prone to leaks and dried-out ink. According to the maker, Lumink addresses this with a body that measures 3.8 inches (about 96mm) when stowed and extends to 5.51 inches (about 140mm) with two twists. The team says the design went through roughly a hundred rounds of sketches and prototypes, and the pen weighs 1.6oz (about 45g).

Nib, ink and sealing

Lumink uses precision-polished German-made nibs, each hand-tuned before shipping, according to the campaign. Buyers choose EF, F or M widths. The maker claims consistent flow without skipping, scratching or hard starts, and says the nib tuning limits smearing, with left-handed writers in mind. The pen accepts international standard ink cartridges and comes with a Schneider black cartridge preinstalled; Deep Black, Royal Blue and Blue Black inks are listed as add-ons.

Precision-machined threads and an internal gasket form what the maker describes as an airtight seal, which it says keeps ink fresh for months and sometimes years, and prevents leaks during travel.

The team says it designed the pen with a 100-year service life as a goal, citing repeated drop tests and durability tests carried alongside keys.
