Why it matters
Most smart glasses announce themselves: thick frames, obvious hardware, and often a camera that makes the people around you uneasy. MemoMind One, presented as a Kickstarter project, starts from the opposite premise. Its makers describe the philosophy as "glasses first, technology follows," stripping back features to produce something meant to pass as ordinary eyewear.
Eyewear before electronics
The maker says the frames come in three styles using beta titanium, magnesium aluminium and acetate, with a total weight of 46.6 grams. The frame follows a curve of roughly 175 degrees with flexible hinges, and the core components sit behind the ears to reduce pressure on the bridge of the nose. The glasses support ZEISS prescription lenses, so they are pitched as a replacement for everyday glasses, and multiple frame colours are offered.
A display only the wearer sees
According to the campaign, the dual micro LED displays reach 2000 nits for readability in strong sunlight. The virtual image can be positioned between 1 and 5 metres ahead, with height, depth and brightness adjustable. An AR optical design with a diffraction grating that directs light downward is intended to minimise light leakage, so that, the maker claims, people nearby cannot see what is on screen.
No camera, by design
The absence of a camera is the headline feature. The maker states that users can manage and delete collected data such as audio, and that personal data is not shared with third parties without consent. Sound comes from built-in speakers tuned by Harman AudioEFX, battery life is claimed to last a full day on one charge, and charging uses a magnetic connector.
The AI toolkit
- AI recording with automatic summaries, using either the glasses or a smartphone as the audio source
- Real-time translation across 26 languages, with listening and conversation modes
- AI teleprompter that scrolls with your speaking pace and pauses when you do
- Live captions of surrounding conversation
- Map navigation for walking and cycling
- Calendar reminders and voice-captured ideas that the AI groups by theme
A companion app for iOS and Android handles widget selection, notifications and recording management, and the glasses support hands-free voice and gesture control. An optional Memo AI + subscription adds search across recorded conversations and saved moments, the maker says.
