BREEZIN

A screenless smart bracelet that hides a health tracker beneath a natural semi-precious stone.

Why it matters

Many people buy a smartwatch to look after their health and end up glancing at it constantly. BREEZIN takes a different route. According to the maker, the bracelet records health and activity data in the background while the face of the device is a piece of natural stone, and the numbers stay on the phone until you choose to open the BREEZIN app.

Jewelry first, tracker second

The campaign lists 10 natural semi-precious stones, including labradorite, malachite, carnelian, rhodonite and mother of pearl, each with its own variations in color and pattern. The stone sits in a housing of either rosewood or 316L stainless steel, and straps come in silicone, nylon, leather or stainless steel mesh. The maker says these combinations add up to more than 650 design variations. The body weighs about 15g, which the maker positions as light enough to wear from work to workouts to sleep.

What it tracks

Under the stone are an optical PPG sensor and a 3-axis accelerometer. The maker says BREEZIN tracks more than 25 health and activity metrics, and sleep tracking covers deep sleep, light sleep and time awake. A feature called BREEZIN Energy combines several data points into a quicker read on the day's condition.

  • Heart rate, resting heart rate and HRV
  • Blood oxygen level and stress
  • Steps, distance, calories burned and active time
  • Workouts and heart rate zones
  • Sleep stages and time awake

No screen, no subscription

With no display, there are no glowing notifications or on-wrist graphs. The app requires no subscription, according to the maker, and syncs with iOS and Android over Bluetooth, with support for Apple Health and Google's health services. Data is stored on the device when Bluetooth is off and synced on reconnection, so the bracelet need not stay paired around the clock.

The maker quotes up to about 7 days per charge and a charging time of about 2 hours, and rates the device to an IP66 equivalent for dust and water resistance. It is meant to handle sweat and splashes but is not designed for prolonged use underwater, so swimming is out. The maker also mentions plans to add new stones and limited designs in the future.
