Nexus Cube
A titanium cube of eight linked mini-cubes that folds through seven RPG dice and doubles as a fidget toy
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Anyone who has dug through a crowded dice bag mid-session will recognise the problem Nexus Cube sets out to solve. The ONELZL team has reimagined the polyhedral dice set as a single machined object: eight interconnected mini-cubes that, according to the maker, integrate the seven standard RPG dice (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20 and D100). Flip and fold the cube, and the face you need comes into position.
One cube, seven dice
Rather than being thrown, the cube is spun. The maker says internal micro ultra-precision bearings keep that spin smooth and stable, producing probability-based results, and that no dice tower or dice tray is required: set it anywhere on the table for a stable roll. The campaign also describes a whisper-quiet 25dB operating noise, pitched at offices, libraries and public game sessions.
The same spinning mechanism is the basis for its second role as a fidget object. The campaign positions Nexus Cube as a desk companion for long meetings, brainstorming, study breaks or commutes, as much as a gaming accessory.
Materials and build
- Aerospace-grade titanium, CNC-machined from a single metal block, according to the maker
- Fine chamfers finished by hand, per the campaign
- Luminous (glow-in-the-dark) treatment on the numbers for low-light play
- Folded thickness of 18.5mm, sized for pockets and EDC kits
- Bearings put through what the team calls a "Silent Heart" test simulating continuous high-intensity spinning and extreme environmental changes
- Multiple colour options, with black and silver mentioned
The maker frames the metal construction as an answer to plastic that ages and resin that wears, and pitches the cube as a collectible or gift. It also states that limited colours and special editions are planned, though no details are given.
