Why it matters
Most keychains assume you have a belt loop. OmniClip, from New Creativity, starts from a different premise: according to the maker, its clip design lets it attach almost anywhere, from a pocket edge or backpack shoulder strap to the zipper of a coat's inner pocket or a handbag handle. The idea is to keep keys where your hands can reach them, rather than buried at the bottom of a bag or dependent on what trousers you happen to be wearing.
Release and lock
The maker describes a one-click release: pushing a protruding tab on the body upward opens the latch, so keys can be removed with a single finger while the other hand is occupied. To stop that ease of use from becoming a liability, a 2.5mm titanium spring plate inside the body keeps constant pressure on the latch. The maker says this prevents accidental opening from stray touches or knocks, with the latch returning to position unless deliberate force is applied, and adds that anti-slip grooves on the clip's contact surface help keep it from shifting during movement such as running or climbing stairs.
Slide adjustment and discretion
A sideways slide adjustment lets the body move left or right while the clip stays attached, which the maker positions as a fix for a heavy key bundle pressing against you when you bend, or rattling against a seatbelt or steering wheel while driving. Because it is compact, the clip can also be tucked inside a coat or deep in a backpack pocket, which the maker says makes keys less visible to pickpockets and less likely to go missing.
Materials and options
- GR5 titanium alloy (TC4), described by the maker as aerospace-grade, high-strength and corrosion-resistant
- Durability that the maker says targets "a century of use"
- Internal 2.5mm titanium spring plate for the latch
- Optional titanium key ring for organizing multiple keys
- Optional horseshoe-shaped accessory, which the maker says improves grip as well as appearance
New Creativity frames the titanium build as both an economic and environmental argument: a keychain that resists rust and wear should not need replacing. Those longevity claims come from the maker and have not been independently verified.
