OVO
An egg-shaped input device that moves the cursor through tilt, rotation and taps instead of sliding on a desk
Editor’s view
Why it matters
The conventional mouse turns sliding across a surface into cursor movement. OVO drops the surface entirely. According to the maker, a high-precision 3-axis sensor inside the device tracks its tilt angle, rotation and orientation in space in real time: tilt the hand to move the cursor, rotate it to scroll or zoom, tap to click. The maker sums up the control scheme as "tilt to move, rotate to control, tap to confirm."
A proprietary Dynamic Balance System (DBS) is said to filter out small hand tremors and unintended movements to keep the cursor steady, which the maker says supports everything from precise clicks to slow scrolling and free rotation in 3D space.
A neutral grip
The ergonomic argument is about posture. The maker contends that a traditional mouse keeps the wrist pinned and the forearm twisted, while OVO is operated from a relaxed, neutral position using only the weight and tilt of the hand. The egg-shaped body measures 48×61mm and weighs 98g, is symmetrical for left- or right-handed use, and has a soft-touch exterior.
Because it needs no dedicated surface, the campaign positions OVO for use on a lap, on a sofa or bed, while standing during presentations, or as a stand-in for a TV remote. The maker also highlights spatial gestures for 3D modeling, video editing and games, where rotating the hand maps onto rotating a view.
Connectivity and configuration
- Bluetooth Low Energy connection with no dedicated driver required, per the maker
- Supports Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and is pitched for PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones and smart TVs
- Built-in web settings interface, reached through a browser, for sensitivity, gesture assignment, macros and switchable profiles
- OTA firmware updates
- 400mAh rechargeable battery rated for up to about 80 hours of continuous use
- USB-C wired charging plus wireless charging
- Included OVO Pad: a thin auxiliary pad that adds resistance to tilting for finer control on a desk
The maker states that OVO went through multiple prototype revisions and real-world testing, refining tracking accuracy, cursor stability, gesture recognition and wireless reliability. Those claims come from the campaign and have not been independently verified by Modern-G.
