ProWrapp Impact+

Fitted cases protect one piece of gear well and nothing else. ProWrapp Impact+ takes the opposite approach: a flat, padded square that wraps around whatever you place in its center, from a filter or phone up to lighting equipment and large telephoto lenses.

Thicker padding, according to the maker

The maker says the wrap is roughly twice as thick as competing products, using a custom high-pile, multi-layer fabric developed over years of research. The stated aim is to absorb and spread impact energy while staying soft to the touch, guarding against damage such as cracked screens, dented lens barrels and failed hard drives. The material is 100% polyester, dark grey outside and light grey inside.

Self-gripping on every surface

Instead of zips or buckles, the whole surface uses hook-and-loop closure. You set the item in the middle and fold the corners inward; according to the maker, the wrap locks wherever the layers meet, so it should stay shut in transit and conform closely to irregular shapes. The idea is that one wrap can serve several devices in turn. Rounded corners are said to reduce accidental opening and fraying, and a hanging loop lets the wrap be stored on a hook.

Four color-coded sizes

• S (29×29cm): lenses up to 80mm diameter and 130mm long, smartphones, filters, small hard drives, chargers
• M (39×39cm): mirrorless cameras with a 24-100mm lens, lenses up to 100mm diameter and 230mm long, tablets up to 12 inches, binoculars
• L (49×49cm): DSLRs with a 24-105mm lens, large lenses, tripods up to 400×90mm, drones, 13–16-inch laptops
• XL (69×69cm): large telephoto lenses, lighting equipment, large tripods, studio accessories

Each size has its own color coding so they can be told apart at a glance. For care, the maker recommends hand washing in cold water with a mild detergent, and advises against washing machines, dryers, irons and hair dryers.
