Why it matters

Eck Design, the company behind the compact tools Loki-Nav and FixBoy, built Sawg around a simple brief: one object that takes on several roles and goes anywhere. The maker positions it for makers, DIY enthusiasts and outdoor users, as well as anyone who wants a small fix-it tool on hand day to day, and says each function is designed to perform like a standalone tool rather than an add-on.

Two blades, two locks

The core of Sawg is a pair of independent folding modules: a knife in M390 steel and a saw in 440C steel. The maker says the M390 blade balances sharpness with long-term durability, and each blade carries an engraved "M390" mark. The saw uses a staggered double-tooth pattern that, according to Eck Design, reduces how often it needs replacing, and the maker describes it as light and corrosion resistant. Because the two work separately, a piece of wood can be cut with the saw and its edge finished with the knife.

Each cutting tool gets its own asymmetric liner lock. Eck Design calls this a dual liner lock mechanism, intended to hold the blade or saw steady and precisely in place during use.

Wrench and pry bar

A compact adjustable wrench covers 24 nut and bolt sizes from M2.5 to M10, according to the maker, aimed at jobs like retightening a tripod, tweaking a bicycle or quick outdoor repairs. The body itself serves as a pry bar: it is not removable, but its solid one-piece construction lets it work for light prying, as an emergency flathead screwdriver and as a bottle opener.

Materials, carry and design

  • GR5 titanium body, chosen by the maker for low weight, strength and resistance to deformation and corrosion
  • All components professionally heat-treated, according to Eck Design
  • Carry in a pocket or backpack, on a keychain or hung from a bag
  • Optional custom leather sheath with pocket clip for belt carry
  • Built-in lanyard hole for beads or paracord
  • Two dedicated slots for optional tritium tubes, which glow without power to help locate the tool in the dark

The silhouette is inspired by the praying mantis, giving a symmetrical form whose sides, the maker says, are shaped to sit naturally in the hand and limit fatigue over longer use. Eck Design frames it all under its signature philosophy of delivering real function in the most compact, refined form.
