Why it matters
The pitch behind Scarab 2.0 is reliability: a knife that opens when needed, stays put in a wet hand and resists rust. The maker builds its case on materials, combining a GR5 titanium handle frame, textured carbon fiber grip sections and an M390 steel blade.
Materials
According to the maker, the GR5 titanium frame balances light weight with strength and resists corrosion from sweat, rain and humidity. The textured carbon fiber is said to add rigidity without excess weight while giving grip with wet or gloved hands. M390 steel, a well-regarded choice among knife enthusiasts, is described as combining hardness and toughness, holding an edge for long periods and resisting rust.
Opening and carry
- Three opening methods: thumb stud, button lock and flipper
- Custom roller bearing system the maker says keeps the action smooth despite sweat or dust
- Ambidextrous operation, per the maker
- Closed length of 4.59 inches (approx. 11.66cm)
- Deep-carry pocket clip and lanyard hole
- Four 1.5×6mm tritium slots on the handle sides; tritium or glow tubes sold separately
The tritium slots are intended to make the knife easy to locate in the dark once fitted with self-luminous inserts, which the maker notes need no power or charging.
What changed from the original
The maker frames Scarab 2.0 as an evolution shaped by user feedback. The original model was limited in how it opened, which some users found awkward with gloves or certain hand sizes; the new version adds the three opening methods. The handle curvature has also been refined to reduce finger strain over longer use. The team summarizes its aim as "A True Extension Of Your Hand."
