Why it matters

Hand drills are portable but hard to keep square; bench drills are accurate but stay on the bench. SPESYN Tool 3 is pitched as a way to have both. According to the maker, it delivers bench-top-level precision in a handheld tool, from 90-degree holes in glass to tapping threads in alloy.

Guided, depth-aware drilling

The core of the design is a Front Guide Module (FGM) combined with built-in dual guide rails. The maker says this setup allows true 90-degree drilling and tapping on surfaces ranging from slippery tile to fragile glass, and keeps self-drilling screws from slipping or cracking the material. Depth readout is claimed at 0.1mm resolution with a relative accuracy of ±0.1mm, intended to prevent overdrilling in blind holes, with small-part work such as FPV drone builds cited as an example.

Electronics behind the torque

According to the campaign, the tool samples brushless motor current 25,000 times per second and adjusts torque electronically in response to feedback from the material, driven by a 200MHz MCU. An e-Clutch is said to protect the motor under overload and to help avoid damaging the workpiece. Three task modes, drilling, tapping and screw driving, each tune torque and control logic: tapping mode runs slow and steady to protect threads, while screw mode adjusts torque as fastening completes to avoid overtightening.

Modular by design

With the FGM removed, the unit becomes a compact cordless drill for tight spaces; the maker says reattaching it switches back to precision mode in seconds. The FGM is described as swappable and adjustable for different bit lengths, tap sizes and angles, and the system supports modular add-ons and custom 3D-printed jigs. The latest FGM adds a fully sealed dust-collection design with a high-transparency housing that keeps the bit fully visible.

  • Recessed display protected by dense raised rubber armor, per the maker
  • USB-C fast charging; 20% to 80% in 0.5 hours with a 65W adapter, according to the campaign
  • Swappable battery for extended sessions
  • Rated for wood, metal, plastic, PVC, tile and glass

SPESYN describes its team as engineers with backgrounds in robotics and hardware development, and frames the tool around making complex tasks simpler and more repeatable.
