Tacray Spinium

Tacray, founded in 2013, has spent more than a decade designing and manufacturing titanium everyday-carry tools. According to the brand, its catalog runs to over 300 products, including more than 50 titanium pens. Spinium grew out of user feedback that titanium EDC pens tend to offer little variety in color and design.

Color and texture

The pen comes in three finishes: classic titanium gray, blue and rose red. The maker says the blue and rose red versions are professionally anodized for vivid color that will not fade over time. Two CNC-machined surface textures are offered, Dragon Scale and Mecha, which Tacray says add grip friction as well as visual character.

Build and mechanism

The body is machined from Grade 5 (TC4) titanium alloy, which the maker credits with durability, strength and corrosion resistance. The pen deploys via what Tacray calls a dual-action bolt button, with resistance and angle tuned so it can be operated with either the left or right hand. The pocket clip is made from the same titanium alloy, with tuned clamping force and length and a fine anti-slip texture.

Spinner and refill

The top of the pen houses a fidget spinner on a bearing the maker describes as silent and smooth, and a hard zirconia ceramic bead is fitted as part of the spinner. Writing is handled by a German-made Schmidt EasyFlow9000M refill, which the campaign says delivers smooth, consistent ink flow and starts readily even after sitting unused.
