Spot-cleaning fabric usually means juggling a spray bottle, a brush and a separate wet vacuum, often spreading the stain in the process. Tessaro, presented as a Kickstarter project, aims to fold that routine into a single handheld unit that can be carried straight to the mess.

Three modes for different stains

The maker's reasoning is that different stains and fabrics call for different temperatures. Steam mode, driven by a 1200W boiler, is said to deliver steam at up to 110℃ to loosen greasy residue and stubborn food spills deep in the fibres. Hot water mode is positioned as the everyday setting for juice, coffee and other drink stains on fabrics that shouldn't take steam. Cold water mode is meant for delicate materials, or furniture whose care labels specify low-temperature cleaning, where heat could set a stain permanently.

Whichever mode is selected, the cleaning happens at the nozzle: a focused jet targets the stain, an integrated brush agitates the fibres, and 17kPa of suction pulls up the dirty water, according to the maker. A transparent cleaning path lets users watch the murky water flow into the waste tank.

The maker pitches Tessaro for pet beds and pet-stained sofas, dining chair upholstery, mattresses and especially car interiors, where a slim dedicated nozzle is said to reach between seats and into tight gaps. Because suction recovers the water quickly, the campaign claims fabric is left only lightly damp and dries in a very short time.
