TriPro Stand

According to the maker, TriPro Stand packs 15 functions into a body that weighs 38g and measures 5mm thick. The idea is a single piece of everyday carry that can serve as a knife at a campsite, a phone stand at a café and a precision driver at the desk.

Titanium body, adjustable stand

The frame is made from Grade 5 titanium alloy, a material also used in aerospace, chosen for durability at low weight. The maker describes a machined surface finish intended to give the tool an accessory-like look. At its center is a magnetic cradle that, the maker says, holds a phone at any angle from 45 to 90 degrees, covering both portrait video viewing and landscape video calls.

Tools and mechanisms

• Main blade with DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, claimed to offer three times the wear resistance of a standard finish
• Built-in precision driver with six bits, ranging from PH000 to T6 Torx
• Slide mechanism for one-handed deployment, with a lock to prevent accidental opening
• Paracord cutter with a ceramic rotor meant to limit wear from friction heat
• Luminous paint said to glow twice as long as previous versions, to help locate the tool in the dark
• Magnetic charging pad on the surface, described as able to charge an Apple Watch while the stand is in use

Manufacturing and future plans

The maker says production uses a closed-loop system that recycles 98% of machining scrap, and that the design was refined through feedback from Kickstarter backers. The team has also outlined a next-generation model that would add a Bluetooth module and a usage counter embedded in the titanium body to signal when maintenance is due; these are described as plans rather than features of the current product.
