Why it matters

Binoculars can bring a distant bird closer, but they cannot record it, and they are of little use once the light fades. TrueVista is pitched as an answer to both problems: a single handheld device for spotting, recording and lighting, aimed at wildlife watchers, hikers, night anglers and anyone who wants a capable tool in a home emergency kit.

Infrared reach

The centerpiece, according to the maker, is a 3W, 850nm high-output infrared spotlight that can resolve subjects 350 to 400 meters away in complete darkness. Infrared intensity adjusts in 7 steps, so output can be raised for distant targets or softened for close ones. In low-light conditions such as dusk or early morning, the maker says the viewing range extends from 3 meters to infinity. A separate high-brightness white LED serves as a utility light and offers a strobe mode for SOS signaling, while the display brightness also adjusts in 7 steps for bright daylight or dark surroundings.

Zoom, display and recording

Images are shown on a 3.2-inch TFT LCD, with up to 8x digital zoom controlled by a key on the side of the body and a manual focus ring for fine adjustment. TrueVista records video at up to 2K with a built-in microphone for ambient sound, and resolution and frame rate can be set to favor either long recording sessions or maximum quality. It also takes still photos, plays back footage on its own screen and applies a date and time stamp to files. Storage is via microSD cards up to 256GB, with a TYPE-C port for transferring files to a computer or smartphone.

Power and handling

  • 9000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery
  • Up to about 15 hours of continuous use with infrared off, about 10 hours with infrared on (maker figures)
  • Can be powered from an external mobile battery via TYPE-C
  • Approximately 403g; 145×120×55mm
  • Neck strap included; 1/4-inch tripod thread on the base
  • 8-button layout and a multilingual menu that includes Japanese

Taken together, the campaign positions TrueVista as a one-hand, all-in-one device for night observation and recording, with the tripod mount intended for fixed-point wildlife watching or extended sessions where stable footage matters.
