Airmaster

A powered, app-linked canister that repressurises tennis and padel balls and holds them there for weeks

Editor’s view

Why it matters

The maker's argument starts with a familiar complaint: a ball's useful life is decided less by worn felt than by internal air pressure, which seeps out through the rubber from the moment a can is opened. Airmaster is pitched as a fix for that, working like a hyperbaric chamber that pushes pressure back into the ball. According to the maker, in a four-week comparison balls kept in Airmaster lost bounce far more slowly than conventionally stored balls, staying above 90% of their initial value for the first 15 days.

One button, automatic pressure

Load the balls, press the pressurise button, and the maker says all of them are fully pressurised in 50 seconds. A closed-loop pressure feedback system detects underpressure and adjusts to a preset target, 30 PSI in tennis mode, which the maker says avoids overpressurising and damaging the ball's internal structure. Once done, the unit enters a sleep-and-hold mode that, according to the maker, retains pressure for up to 3 weeks.

That retention is credited to what the maker calls a triple leak-proof design: a high-strength engineering plastic body, double-layer O-ring sealing and a screw-lock structure. The maker reports a 120-day continuous pressurisation test showing a pressure drop of 0.3 psi or less at full pressure. A built-in self-locking mechanism in the lid locks after pressurisation; users press a vent button to release pressure before opening, and the maker also cites a triple safety protection system.

Tennis, padel and an app

  • Companion app with free lifetime access and no subscription, according to the maker
  • Sport selection: 30 PSI for tennis, 26 PSI for padel
  • Real-time pressure display and a ball life assessment estimating remaining use
  • Annual savings tracking based on reduced ball purchases
  • Battery life of up to 1 month, USB-C fast charging, rechargeable lithium battery
  • 80mm diameter × 320mm length, 582g
  • LED status indicator for pressurising, sleep and low-charge states

The maker claims Airmaster extends ball life by 3 times, cuts costs by 68% and supports zero waste, framing it against an estimated 400 million tennis balls consumed worldwide each year. Routine cleaning is required, and the O-rings are described as easy to replace.
