Why it matters
The AOHi 280W Charger is aimed at a familiar problem: a desk crowded with adapters and cables, and a constant shuffle of plugs to keep everything powered. AOHi positions the hub for creators juggling several devices, professionals running power-hungry hardware, and enthusiasts who want one unit to serve both new and older gadgets.
Power and ports
According to the maker, the hub delivers 280W in total across four USB-C and two USB-A ports, enough to charge six devices at once, from laptops and tablets to phones, cameras and earbuds. AOHi says that output allows two high-draw laptops such as the 16-inch MacBook Pro to charge simultaneously at full speed. The USB-C1 port is rated for up to 240W on its own, and the maker describes it as having a dedicated high-power channel intended to match the charging speed of a full-size AC adapter.
The charger supports the PD3.2 standard, which AOHi says covers recent MacBook models, Windows laptops and iPad Pro, while the two USB-A ports handle older phones, wired earbuds and digital cameras. Internally, a GaN-based "GaN+" architecture is credited by the maker with higher efficiency and less heat than silicon designs, allowing a more compact body and stable performance during long sessions.
Two modes, a screen and an app
- Smart AI Charging mode: detects each connected device and allocates power accordingly, avoiding excess power to small devices, per the maker
- Turbo Charging mode: a single tap of the on-device button unlocks the full 280W, with up to 240W from USB-C1
- Real-time LCD display: shows per-port output, connection status and the hub's own temperature
- Wi-Fi app control: switch modes, monitor ports and turn the hub on or off from a smartphone, with custom UI themes and charging animations
- Clock display mode: turns the LCD into a digital clock when the hub is idle
Taken together, AOHi frames the 280W Charger as both a power hub and a desk object: something that consolidates multiple adapters while making power draw visible and adjustable. The product has appeared as a Kickstarter project; the specifications and claims here come from the maker and have not been independently verified by Modern-G.
