BEAM PUMP

Pack weight creeps up one small item at a time: a pump for the sleeping pad, a lantern for the tent, something to squeeze down clothing. BEAM PUMP's pitch is to fold those jobs into a single device. The maker says the unit weighs 2.7 oz (78g), and that merging the air pump and tent light saves about 48g, cutting the combined load of those items by roughly 38%.

Pump

According to the maker, BEAM PUMP moves 300 liters of air per minute at 5kPa of pressure, enough to fully inflate a standard-size air mat in 40 seconds. Six interchangeable nozzles are included, which the campaign says fit mats from brands such as Therm-a-Rest, Sea to Summit, Exped and Big Agnes, and stay attached without leaking so inflation can run hands-free. Operating noise is rated at 65dB. Linking two BEAM PUMP units with a dedicated nozzle raises pressure to as much as 14kPa, for those who prefer a firmer pad.

Light

The built-in light reaches up to 300 lumens across four levels: 6lm, 60lm, 160lm and 300lm. The maker quotes a maximum continuous runtime of 50 hours. A separately sold shade softens the output, and if the internal battery runs flat, the device can be connected to a power bank via USB-C to keep both the pump and light working.

Compression and extras
