Why it matters

The Triarch is a Kickstarter project from IWMK, a watch brand based in Hong Kong. Its defining feature is the way it shows the time: a Rotating Triangle Hand works together with a Magnetic Orbit Display, which the maker describes as a way to make the passage of time visible rather than simply indicated. According to IWMK, the triangle turns smoothly under magnetic force, and the layout is designed to stay legible even when the watch is viewed at an angle.

Movement

The maker says the Triarch runs on a Miyota 9039 movement combined with IWMK's In-House Rotating Hour Module. The movement has 24 jewels and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. IWMK quotes accuracy within ±10 seconds per day and a 36-hour power reserve.

Case, crystal and finishing

The case is 316L stainless steel, measuring 42mm wide and 14.16mm thick. Up front is a double-domed sapphire crystal with a multi-layer anti-reflective coating, which the maker says reduces distortion and glare when reading the dial off-axis. An exhibition sapphire caseback shows the movement, and the caseback surround is engraved with the IWMK logo and product number. The push-pull crown is also 316L stainless steel, and IWMK rates the watch to 5 ATM (50m).

IWMK also points to high-definition screen printing on the dial and finely finished hand tips as details intended to support legibility and longevity.
