DockOrb

DockOrb merges two desk accessories that usually sit side by side: a docking station and a wireless phone charger. According to the maker, it lets users connect external displays, multiple USB devices, wired headphones, a wired network and power through one unit, with a phone charging magnetically on the front.

Qi 2 charging up front

The maker says the Qi 2 magnetic wireless charger delivers up to 15W and can fully charge an iPhone in as little as 30 minutes. The campaign does not specify which iPhone models or battery conditions that figure is based on.

Twelve ports around the back

• 3 USB-A ports
• 2 USB-C ports
• 3.5mm audio port
• 1000Mbps Ethernet port
• 2 4K HDMI ports
• 100W PD (Power Delivery) port
• Host port for connecting to a device

According to the campaign, display output runs at 4K@60Hz and supports expansion to up to three screens. The 100W PD 3.0 port is intended to fast-charge a laptop while the phone charges wirelessly at the same time. The 3.5mm jack handles headphones, external speakers or a microphone.

The maker describes DockOrb as plug-and-play with no driver installation, and lists compatibility with Windows, macOS and ChromeOS, positioning it for use beyond a fixed desk, such as at a coffee shop or client meeting.

Manufacturing challenges

The campaign openly acknowledges production risks, including supply chain instability, the precision manufacturing demanded by the spherical design, and possible technical issues in mass production. The team says it is addressing these through partnerships with multiple suppliers, buffer inventory and advanced inspection techniques.
