ESR MagMouse

ESR, founded in 2009, is a mobile accessory brand that says it serves more than 123 million users worldwide. Its MagMouse targets a familiar annoyance for anyone moving between meetings or lectures: juggling a laptop, phone and a loose mouse that tends to vanish into the bottom of a bag. The maker bills it as the world's first magnetic wireless mouse with a built-in charging cable.

Snap and Go

The mouse comes with a detachable magnetic base that attaches to a laptop or tablet. According to ESR, pop-up pins in the base align automatically on contact to hold the mouse firmly, so it shouldn't rattle or come loose in transit. The base is 0.48cm thick, and the maker says the mouse can be attached or removed with one hand.

A cable that lives inside

Instead of disposable batteries or a separate cord, MagMouse stores a fast-charging USB-C cable in its body that pulls out and plugs straight into a laptop's USB-C port. ESR claims 1 minute of charging gives 4 hours of use, and a full 45-minute charge lasts up to 80 days. Power comes from a rechargeable lithium polymer battery, which the maker positions as a way to cut down on disposable batteries.

Controls and connectivity

• 4-way scroll wheel for vertical and horizontal scrolling across spreadsheets, timelines and wide images
• Silent buttons that the maker says reduce click noise by 90%
• Ergonomic curved shape with a soft-touch silicone finish
• Dual connectivity via 2.4GHz USB and Bluetooth 5.0
• DPI adjustable in 6 steps, up to 4800

ESR pitches the combination at office workers, travelers and students who want a mouse that stays with their laptop rather than in a separate pocket. MagMouse has been presented as a Kickstarter project.
