fitn Focus
A smart notebook system that syncs pen-on-paper handwriting with AI-transcribed audio on one timeline
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Paper notes and audio recordings each capture only half of a lecture or meeting: handwriting misses spoken nuance, while recordings miss what was drawn on the whiteboard. Matching the two afterwards can take hours. fitn Focus is built around that problem, combining handwritten notes on paper with recorded audio and an AI processing layer.
Handwriting and audio on one timeline
According to the maker, its dual-track sync system ties every pen stroke to the recorded audio on a shared timeline. When a recording is played back in the app, the handwritten notes made at that moment appear alongside it. A speaker identification feature is also included: once a person's name or role is registered, the maker says they are recognized automatically across recordings and their contributions are tagged.
Rather than photographing finished pages, the dedicated pen uses a pressure-sensing electromagnetic mechanism to capture stroke pressure and convert it into vector-quality digital ink. The maker says this preserves the difference between light sketch lines and heavy headings, and that strokes can later be erased, resized in weight or recolored. The pen accepts standard D1 refills and needs no battery.
Transcription, translation and GPT-5-based tools
The AI system is said to support 145 languages for real-time transcription from the moment recording starts, including less widely spoken languages such as Finnish and Swahili, along with two-way translation, for example from Japanese to English. Transcripts are saved as searchable text alongside the handwritten notes and original audio. The maker describes its core engine as built on GPT-5, used to extract key points, produce time-organized summaries and sort decisions and action items.
- Smart Cleanup to remove filler words and tidy transcripts
- PPT Assistant to generate a presentation outline from a recording
- Editable mind maps from brainstorming notes and speech
- 300 minutes of AI processing per month at no charge, with no credit card registration, per the maker
Hardware
The maker lists up to 20 hours of continuous recording per full charge, up to 60 days on standby, a weight of 366g, and a 1.75-inch status screen showing recording time, operating status, page markers and sync status. It works with standard B6 notebooks up to 8mm thick, so plain, grid, ruled or premium paper can be used. 16GB of offline storage means recording does not require a cloud connection. Export formats include MP3, TXT, DOC, JPEG and the original vector strokes, with integration into Notion, Word and Google Docs.
