FixBoy

Eck Studio's FixBoy takes the multi-tool idea and shrinks it down to keychain scale. According to the maker, the body is machined from GR5 titanium, an alloy also used in the aircraft industry, chosen for its light weight, strength and corrosion resistance. The maker says this lets FixBoy withstand water, impacts and extreme temperatures.

A revolver for bits

The most distinctive element is the rotating magnetic storage. Inspired by a revolver mechanism, it houses five magnetic slots in a cylindrical chamber that spins to bring the needed 4mm bit into position. The maker says the magnets hold bits securely so they do not drop out mid-task, and pitches the spinning action itself as a tactile pleasure.

The driver uses a telescoping extension: it works at a 23mm reach in its normal mode, and pressing an internal extension rod lengthens it to 40mm for screws set deeper in a device.

Fidgets, pen and glow

• 12-click spinner disc: a 360° rotating disc inspired by a ring gear, with 12 evenly spaced click points
• Bolt-action slider: a spring-loaded slider that snaps back to position after each press, operable with one hand
• Optional pen module: an inkless tip made of a third-generation metal alloy that leaves a pencil-like line the maker says resists smudging and fading
• Tritium-ready: four dedicated slots for optional tritium tubes to help locate the tool in low light
• Lanyard hole for wearing it on a keychain, as a pendant, or attached to a backpack or belt

The pen module is positioned for jotting down notes between repairs, and the maker claims it performs consistently through changes in temperature and humidity.

The bigger idea

The pitch is consolidation: replacing several carried items with one small object. The source also frames titanium's durability and recyclability as an environmental benefit, arguing that a long-lasting tool reduces waste.
