Why it matters
Lightweight gaming mice usually trade features for grams. Chilkey, described in the source as a co-brand of Wuque Studio, is trying to have both with the Glacier LW 8K L: according to the maker, a 0.7mm thin shell keeps total weight to 47g, while the mouse still carries an OLED screen, optical switches and tri-mode connectivity.
A screen on the mouse
The maker calls the OLED display a "Tactical Information Hub." It shows battery level, polling rate, DPI and connection mode (wired, 2.4G or Bluetooth) in real time, removing the need to open software or decode blinking LEDs. To save power, the screen is said to light up when the mouse is idle and switch off during active use. The 300mAh battery is rated for up to 100 hours of continuous use.
DPI can be changed without a driver: the maker says rolling the scroll wheel adjusts sensitivity in steps of 50, with a jump from 800DPI to 1600DPI taking 1 to 2 seconds.
Sensor, polling and switches
- PixArt PAW3950 sensor: 400–30,000DPI native, 750IPS tracking, 50G maximum acceleration
- 8000Hz polling rate (0.125ms) in wired and 2.4G modes; 1000Hz over Bluetooth
- Nordic 52840 main control chip
- RAESHA fog-blue optical switches rated for 100 million clicks
- Left button actuation force set 3g lighter than the right
- 100% pure PTFE skates
The optical switches trigger via infrared rather than a physical contact, which the maker says reduces wear and delivers zero-latency, jitter-free clicks. The shape draws on popular designs and is intended, per the campaign, to suit palm, claw and fingertip grips.
The source also mentions cloud-based control that requires no program download, though it gives no further detail on how this works.
