Why it matters
Most gaming headsets seal the ear to block outside noise, at the cost of heat and clamping pressure over long sessions. HAVIT's Fuxi-H8 takes the opposite approach: the maker describes it as the world's first open-back gaming headset, designed to keep airflow around the ear while still delivering positional audio and low-latency wireless.
Open back, cooler ears
According to measurement data cited by the maker, a typical over-ear headset raises the temperature around the ear by about 4℃ after extended use, while the Fuxi-H8 limits the rise to 0.4℃. The headband is made of manganese steel for flex and recovery, the arms use aluminum alloy, and the removable ear pads combine soft silicone with protein leather. The frame is said to adjust to a range of head sizes.
Head-tracked spatial audio
A built-in gyroscope tracks head movement in real time and repositions the soundstage accordingly, so a sound coming from behind shifts toward the front when you turn to face it. HAVIT pitches this for locating footsteps in FPS games as well as for films, supported by low-latency processing to keep audio in step with the picture.
Key specifications, per the maker
- Connectivity: custom 2.4GHz wireless (latency of 28ms or less), Bluetooth 5.2 with AFH, and wired via USB-A/Type-C
- Microphone: detachable, dual-mic ENC said to suppress over 80% of ambient noise
- Audio modes: Stereo, Gaming and Spatial, switchable via an on-headset button
- Battery: up to 30 hours
- Dynamic RGB lighting on the sides of the headband, with color and pattern options and an off setting
Taken together, the Fuxi-H8 is positioned as a single headset for gaming, music, video and calls, with the open-back construction as its defining feature. As with any open-back design, how it balances sound leakage and isolation in shared spaces is not addressed in the campaign material.
