Why it matters

Multi-game tables usually ask a lot of their owners: heavy tops to flip, parts to rearrange, and enough friction that the conversion features go unused. LIGNUM's pitch is that switching modes should be quick enough to happen on a whim. The maker says its patent-pending heavy-duty interchangeable top system lets each playing surface slide along industrial-grade rails and lock into place, with no screws or heavy lifting, in under 30 seconds.

Five modes, one footprint

  • Air hockey: a high-performance motor delivers even airflow across a high-gloss PVC surface, according to the maker
  • Billiards: an 84-inch (approx. 2.1m) surface covered in tournament-grade premium felt
  • Poker: a spacious felt surface with room for chips
  • Table tennis: a responsive surface with a full-size net
  • Desk & dining: a work and meal surface the maker says has room for dual monitors

The table is described as a full-size design measuring 84 inches (approx. 2.1m) in length. The campaign positions this as a step up from smaller tables that feel toy-like, and claims the overall package is compact enough for an apartment living room as well as a basement or game room.

Built heavy

The maker lists a weight of 155kg (342lbs), which it says keeps the table steady during hard air hockey shots and billiards breaks. The frame uses thick MDF, the legs are powder-coated steel, and the exterior has a premium solid wood veneer finish. Four integrated cup holders are built in to keep drinks off the playing surfaces, and the maker states a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.

When not in use for games, LIGNUM is meant to read as furniture rather than rec-room equipment, with clean lines and subdued base colors intended to suit living rooms, dining areas and offices, as well as bars, clubs and recreation facilities.
