Vantoure Vera

Lightweight β153 memory-titanium glasses with screwless hinges, built to shrug off drops and bends

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Most glasses demand careful handling: frames warp, tiny screws loosen, and heavy metal leaves marks on the bridge of the nose by evening. Vantoure positions Vera as glasses for people who simply live normally, stuffing them in bags, forgetting them in pockets and occasionally sitting on them.

A frame that springs back

The frame uses Yamauchi Matex β153 memory titanium, which the maker describes as a high-purity material with over 75% titanium. According to the campaign, the frame can be opened out to 180 degrees or twisted firmly by hand and return to its original shape. Vantoure also cites corrosion-resistant properties against sweat, and says the flexible material follows the contours of the head rather than pinching the temples or pressing on a single point of the nose.

Weight and construction

The maker quotes a frame-only weight of 4.87g to 5.18g, which it likens to resting a sheet of A4 paper on the face. A floating half-rim structure trims material around the lenses and, according to Vantoure, spreads pressure evenly between the nose and temples. With −8.00 high-prescription lenses fitted, the total weight is stated as 14.61g.

  • Screwless hinge that holds the frame parts together by structure alone, which the maker says avoids loosening and needs no maintenance
  • Japanese-made high-toughness nylon wire to hold the lenses, said to reduce the risk of lenses popping out
  • Soft, skin-friendly silicone nose pads with a fine anti-slip texture
  • Standard lenses with an Abbe number of 41 that the maker says passed a 200-hour continuous UV durability test
  • Upgraded lenses with reinforced impact and scratch resistance plus water- and oil-repellent and anti-reflective coatings
  • Support for progressive and photochromic lenses, according to the campaign

Three shapes, fitted before shipping

Vera comes in three frame styles: Orion, a round, double-bridge design with a vintage Windsor-style look; Thalassa, a compact crown frame whose small lens size is meant to keep strong prescriptions thinner; and Vortex, a simple rectangle. Each has a dedicated clip-on sunglass option offered separately. Vantoure also says frames and nose pads are adjusted before shipping based on the buyer's stated face width, nose shape and fit preference.
