EVLA

Overhead lighting is good at making a room bright and less good at making it feel like evening. EVLA approaches the problem from a different angle: rather than simply illuminating a space, the maker positions it as a tool for setting its mood, using both light and sound.

Light as atmosphere

The maker describes EVLA's lighting as multi-mode ambient light, including a warm glow evoking a retro flame, a drifting firefly-like effect and a soft ambient mode meant to wrap a room gently. The stated intent is low-key light for reading, winding down before sleep or stepping away from screens, rather than raw brightness.

A soundtrack built in

Alongside the light, EVLA plays white noise and nature sounds. According to the campaign, the library includes gentle rain, forest ambience, ocean waves, soft wind, white noise and relaxing melodies. The maker suggests uses such as rain sounds before bed, white noise to mask household noise while working, and waves or forest sounds as a backdrop for reading.

Built to move around

• USB-C rechargeable, so it can be used away from an outlet
• Waterproof design, which the maker says suits outdoor settings as well as indoor ones
• Top hook for hanging it lantern-style, or it can sit on a table or shelf
• Compact, capsule-inspired form with rounded lines

Taken together, the maker pitches EVLA as a lamp that can follow its owner from bedside to desk to balcony or campsite, hanging out of the way where surface space is limited. It is presented as a Kickstarter project.
