MakerPi TiRuler

A CR5 titanium ruler that also works as protractor, compass guide, hex driver and phone stand

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Most rulers do one job. The TiRuler, developed by Hong Kong-based MakerPi Tools and presented as a Kickstarter project, is pitched as something closer to a compact workshop tool, combining measurement, drafting aids and a handful of hand-tool features in one titanium body.

Material

The maker specifies CR5-grade titanium alloy. According to the source, this grade pairs light weight with high strength and corrosion resistance, and titanium of this kind is used in aerospace and medical equipment. MakerPi Tools positions that choice as the basis for long-term durability.

Measuring and drawing

One side carries a standard centimetre/millimetre scale; the other, the maker says, provides protractor-style angle measurement. The campaign also lists compass use, a wave-pattern guide and straight-line assistance, while the edge doubles as a cutting guide for craft work. Slits and dots across the panel are intended to make ruling lines and drawing concentric circles or radial patterns easier.

Modular length and tool functions

A modular structure lets included extension parts connect to the ruler to lengthen it, so it can stay compact for carrying and grow for larger work. Beyond drafting, the maker lists:

  • Hex driver holes
  • A screw measuring gauge
  • A stand for propping up a smartphone or tablet, for following tutorials or drawings while working

MakerPi Tools aims the TiRuler at engineers, creators and students alike, framing it as an everyday-carry tool as much as a drafting instrument.
