Miko

The premise behind Miko is simple: people rarely leave home without their keys, so a charger attached to them is hard to forget. According to the maker, the result is a 30W charger roughly the size of a car smart key, built to sit on a key ring, bag strap or belt loop rather than in a drawer at home.

Size and build

The maker lists the body at 43.1×60.7×15.8mm and 46.8g. It claims Miko is 60% smaller and 56% lighter than Apple's 30W charger, and 21% smaller, 19% lighter and 45% thinner than Apple's 20W charger. The plug folds flat into the body when not in use, which the maker says keeps it from scratching keys or snagging on other items. The shell is polycarbonate rather than metal, a choice the maker attributes to electrical safety in such a small enclosure, and the front is covered in vegan leather intended to add grip and protect the surface.

Charging

Miko has a single USB-C port supporting USB-C PD3.0 at up to 30W, plus the PPS protocol. The maker credits GaN (gallium nitride) for fitting that output into the small body, says recent iPhone models can reach 50% in about 30 minutes, and states that it can charge an iPad or a MacBook Air. Protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating and short circuits is built in, with an operating range given as -10℃ to 75℃.

• Included 17cm USB-C to USB-C cable that functions as the key ring
• Cable rated for 30W charging and 480Mbps data transfer, detachable for use with other chargers
• 100-240V input; maker says usable in more than 50 countries
• US Type A plug; other regions require a separate adapter
• Colours: orange, navy and tan, each with a metallic gunmetal base

Taken together, Miko is pitched less as a spec upgrade than as a carry solution: charger, cable and key ring combined into one small object meant to remove the habit of forgetting a charger altogether.
