Why it matters

GADGET ON, a product design team based in London, built the NanoB10 around a strict Everyday Carry brief: a light small enough to forget on a keyring, but ready when you need to find a keyhole, light a dark path or locate something dropped. The maker describes it as an attempt to balance lightness, durability and ease of use in a single object.

Small body, titanium shell

The maker lists the NanoB10 at about 3cm long and around 20g, though the source page also notes a measured weight of roughly 24g. That is described as about the size of an adult index finger's first joint. The body is machined as a single piece from Grade 5 titanium, an alloy the source describes as roughly twice as strong as aluminum and resistant to corrosion and wear. It carries an IPX6 water-resistance rating, meant to cope with strong spray from any direction, such as heavy rain.

Nine modes, one button

According to the maker, the light offers nine lighting modes, including low, middle and high outputs, a flashing mode, an SOS mode and a close-range mode described as a "peak" mode for detail work. Everything runs through a single button: short presses change modes and a long press switches the light on or off. A mode memory function brings back the last-used setting at the next start-up.

A magnet in the base lets the NanoB10 attach to steel surfaces such as a fridge, car body, toolbox or metal shelf. Paired magnetically with a clip, sold separately, it can be rotated through 360 degrees to aim the beam. Charging is via USB-C, and the maker says a full charge lasts from several weeks to several months of typical use, depending on frequency.

The five finishes above are each said to show natural variation from the machining process. GADGET ON says the NanoB10 builds on its predecessor, the NanoB9, and user feedback: the base was redesigned to sit more firmly when attached to metal, and tighter machining tolerances reduce gaps between parts to improve water resistance and durability. The NanoB10 is presented as a Kickstarter project.
